After the Bàillidh Mòr's death, a man called Calum an t-Suidhe told Flora MacEachen, who was employed at the inn in Bunessan, that he was up early because he had good news. Calum had been facing eviction in a few days. He then bought a new scythe and a bottle of whisky, and began scything with such enthusiasm that he broke the scythe.
