Remembering the thatched houses.
Description of a two-roomed thatched house in which the contributor lived. Reeds were used as thatch. He remembers houses filled with smoke, and the soot growing down from the thatch inside. Houses in Rannoch were both thatched and slated in the contributor's youth.
