Summary
Thatching houses in Vatersay.
Description of the old thatched houses in Vatersay. There was one window at the front, and two at the back. Houses were thatched with bent-grass, which was plentiful. It was held down with ropes anchored with stones. They would go to Mull for wood at one time, before the contributor's mother's day. Wood was used as a frame for the roof. It would be lined with turf, with the heather side to the interior.
