In this bothy ballad a young man is hired at Turra market to work at Delgaty farm. Although the farmer promises him "the ae baist pair that e'er I set ma een upon", they prove to be nothing but "skin and bone", and are difficult to work. He describes his life outside work, with lasses winking at him in church. He boasts, "I can kiss anither man's lass / And aye be welcome to ma ain."
