Summary

Weaving and waulking.

There were no weavers in Tong in the contributor's day, but many people had small looms and made bed covers. She saw the tweed process, from gathering crotal to waulking, at a relative's in Ranish, Lochs. Tweed was laid on a door, with six to eight girls waulking the cloth. Mention of luadhadh chas [waulking with feet]. She has heard many waulking songs in Ness.
