Summary

Sheiling life.

The contributor's father was the last man in Tong to have a sheiling, but she can well remember the girls going out to the sheilings in the summer. Sheilings were small and simple. They were made from peat turfs and heather. The bed, made of turf, was called 'A' chailleach'. Work at the sheiling included milking and making butter. They took cattle and hens out with them.
