Summary
Amhuinnsuidhe Estate in the 1920s and 1930s.
Sandy MacKay compares the way things were on Amhuinnsuidhe Estate when he worked there with the way things are now [1986]. The estate employed twelve ghillies and eight gamekeepers in his time. He talks about the work that was being done on the estate then and about the hierarchy who came to stay in the castle. There were beautiful horse-drawn chariots for these people. Sir Thomas Sopwith was the landlord who succeeded Sir Samuel Scott. The present landlord is from Switzerland. Local crofters have had their sheep on the estate since 1884.
