Summary

Using the image of waulking the tweed, the bard lists those who will rise again to support Bonnie Prince Charlie, and describes the thumping and pounding the Hanovarians will receive. John Lorne Campbell comments that the song was originally composed by Alexander MacDonald and the text lost for many years then rediscovered.

Item Notes

41 couplets plus 3-line choruses. The song was composed after the Battle of Culloden to inspire the Highlanders to rise again, possibly in 1751.
