Summary
The widow's son and the strange little man.
There was a widow who had one son who became ill. She sent for the doctor, who asked her if she had met any strangers. She told him that she had met a strange little man who would ask her how her son was each day. When she said he was worse, he would reply, 'may he get worse and worse'. The doctor told her to say he was better in future. The next day she did as the doctor had said, and the old man replied, 'may he get better and better'. Her son soon recovered.
