Summary
Sheilings.
Sheilings were built near streams. The men built them every year before the young girls and older women went out to them to look after the stock. They made butter and cheese at the sheiling. Henhouses were also built in the summer, some distance away from houses. They stopped going to the sheilings when fences were built, about fifty years ago [1900s]. Discussion about sheiling locations which can still [1960] be clearly seen.
