Summary

In this song the bard tells of his love for a young brown-haired girl. He gave her his love when he was young. He doesn't want to let her go milking for fear of the other boys and the herdsmen. At the end of the song he says that Mary Nicolson is the fairest person.

Item Notes

This song seems to be a variant version of a song by Duncan Bàn MacIntyre. In Duncan Bàn's song the girl is named as Màiri NicNeachdain, rather than MacNeacail as sung here.
