Summary
This song tells how the poet loved a girl called Mary Ann. She in turn loved him deeply but her parents did not approve and locked her away. The bard is extremely sad about the situation and will remain so for the rest of his life. The poet is sent a letter telling him to come to the mansion where she lived. He got there just before she died.
