Biography of Mrs Dobson; farm wages in East Lothian in the late 19th century.
When Mrs Dobson was one year old, the family flitted [removed] to Thurston estate near Innerwick, where her father worked as a forester for eleven years. He then went back to the farms to drive horses, which paid better. He received wages plus a tied house with garden, and a supply of potatoes.
