Summary
Late 19th century schooling in Innerwick.
As a girl, Mrs Dobson walked to school at Innerwick; she was away from home from 8.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m., and took a piece [packed lunch] with her. There were two classes, with a schoolmaster in one, and a schoolmistress in the other. Girls had sewing as well as reading, writing and arithmetic. Schooling had to be paid for. All the children came from farm workers' families.
