Summary

Sea fairies.

The sea fairies were known as 'tròidsich'. Some of their women were married to humans. It is said that a tròidseach woman composed the song 'Buain na Rainich'. People learnt songs from the tròidsich in ways that are explained by the contributor. There was a man living in Benbecula at the time of the First World War who knew some of their songs. There is no one left now who remembers them.
