Jessie MacKenzie's father and uncle served as soldiers on the Faroe Islands during World War Two. She visited in 1989 and found the people to be wealthy and progressive. She took items over for their museum, including a picture of her uncle who helped to down a German aircraft, along with four prisoners. The islanders were particularly fond of the Lovat Scouts.
