Summary

The bard is sad and dejected because of the news which he has received from Appin that the tacksman of Glenure has been killed. The song contains much praise for Colin Campbell of Glenure, particularly for his demeanour. The bard speaks of the effect the death will have on the community. He thinks too of Campbell's widow.
