Summary

Ploughing started on St Bride's Day.

St Bride's Day was 13th February, the day that ploughing started. MacLean, the Balemartin Bard who was always making songs about his neighbour Malcolm MacArthur, made a song about it. He says that if St Bride's Day happened to be that day, Malcolm would be out with his plough and his team of horses. The contributor heard the song from his father, who was a great friend of the Balemartin Bard. This bard also made a song about the Land League troubles in Tiree. The St Bride's Day song is not in print, and the contributor thinks he is the only person who knows it.
