Summary

Murchadh Geàrr and the Loch Buidhe Estate.

Murchadh Geàrr lost his lands and went to the Earl of Antrim. He returned with sixteen of Antrim's men and retook Loch Buidhe Castle. The steersman was the contributor's ancestor. Some of his family were known as 'Clann na h-Oidhche' because of a remark he made when he first came. He had nowhere to stay and someone asked his name. He replied, "Bu Mhoireasdanach an-diugh mi, ach 's mac na h-oidhche th' annam a-nochd." The contributor's grandfather and great-grandfather were always invited to the castle at New Year by MacLean of Loch Buidhe.
