The family croft was in Knockrome although they lived in Ardfernal. Manure was spread on the ground before ploughing and planting. Potatoes were cut before they were planted. When potatoes sprouted, the ground was weeded and ploughed again into drills. Description of how drills were made with a piece of wood attached to the plough. When lifted, potatoes were stored in a hole in the ground and covered with turf and bracken. Mention of a certain disease which caused the inside of the potato to turn brown.
