Easter on a farm prior to 1918.
In John Mitchell's day, Easter was the same as any other day, except that there was a church service. As small children [in Newton Mearns], he and his siblings rolled boiled eggs, which were initialled but not coloured. Mr Mitchell never saw a chocolate egg until he was an adult.
