Summary

This is a lament for a man who has been drowned. Evidence from the text shows that the composer is his foster-mother. It says: "I have paid dearly for the fishing. / This is the year that has destroyed me. / I have paid dearly for the stoup in Taigh a' Chladaich [the Shore House]. / I have lost the swimmer of the sound. / You would not call for the ferry. / Your sister has lost her brother. / Your mother has lost her son. / Your young wife is without a husband, / and I am without a foster-son."

Item Notes

Only part of the text has been sung on this recording.
