Summary
The drowning of Balephuil fishermen in Tiree.
Balephuil fishermen went out to catch cod one July day in 1856. The contributor's grandfather had a boat, but he didn't like the look of the weather and didn't go out. A strong wind blew up and the boats couldn't get back to the harbour. Some went to Islay and some to Colonsay, but nine were lost. The contributor recites some lines from a song composed about the subject.
