Summary

Leab an t-Sagairt.

Leab an t-Sagairt was the place where the priest hid in Mingulay at the time of the 'Forbidden Mass'. There was a reward out for him. He was betrayed by a man for a small sum. He was taken to Edinburgh. The man who betrayed him was very upset when he found out how worthless the money was. He kept saying 'My God and my sixpence'. Fr Dougan (Duggan) was the first priest who went to Barra after the Reformation. The stone altar he used is still there. Glac Dhùgain is the hollow where he used to hide. There is a large stone in Vatersay called Beannachan, where the priest said Mass.
