Summary
Angus MacPherson's father's method of teaching pibroch.
Angus MacPherson discusses his father's old method of teaching pibroch. He demonstrates on the chanter the siubhal, taorluath, leumluath and crunluath movements as taught by him. Cadences are discussed. According to Mr MacPherson they should be left to the performer's discretion. He thinks modern players use too many, and he illustrates this by playing on the practice chanter part of the ground of 'Kinlochmoidart's Lament', with and without cadences. The crunluath fosgailte is discussed and he demonstrates how it should be played. He finds pibroch composition very difficult although he has recently composed one for his great friend, Pipe Major William Ross.
