Summary
Disaster ballad describing the loss of over two hundred sailors and soldiers on board the Iolaire as it sank trying to enter Stornoway harbour on New Year's Day 1919.
Norman Stewart explains that his grandfather had been transferred from the Iolaire to another ship before it left Kyle of Lochalsh, and thus survived.
