Summary
This song relates the composer's feelings about the torpedoing of a ship, which was next to his own ship in a convoy en route to Egypt, during the Second World War. He witnessed the carnage and the destruction and even the drowning of men in life jackets who had survived the torpedoing but who couldn't be saved because of the stormy weather. He says he will never forget the scenes he witnessed.
