Peats were cut with a special spade, dried, and taken home.

Title - Peats were cut with a special spade, dried, and taken home.
Contributors - William Walker
Reporters - Anne Ross

Summary - Peats were cut with a special spade, dried, and taken home.

The only peat-cutting Bill Walker has seen was being done by shepherds in Glen Lochay. They used a special big spade. Peats were cut in June, in slabs, and dried, and then taken to the cottages where they would be stored under cover.
