Summary - The bard tells of his sadness, as he is far away from the girl he loves. He thinks of his promise to return to her. To him, she is like Venus among the stars. When he returns to Stornoway he will have her forever. He is not impressed by Glasgow girls. They are noisy and speak in horrible English. He prefers the Gaelic language. He hopes to meet again the girl he loves.
