Summary - In this love song a woman tells that she has lost the man she loved and has been deceived by him. The song was said to have been composed by a dairymaid from Benbecula who fell in love with a kinsman of Clanranald. His family opposed the match and he had to marry a more suitable woman. On the night that the marriage was celebrated, news came that the dairymaid had been drowned. The groom ordered the pipes and dancing to cease and broke down in tears, to the surprise of his new wife.
