Biography
William S. MacDonald (1930-1984) was born and raised in Larbert, Stirlingshire. At the age of thirteen, following the death of his parents, he moved to Dunvegan, Isle of Skye, to live with some relatives, and it was here that he acquired his Gaelic. At the age of sixteen, he moved south to Perthshire, where he worked as a Shepherd in Killin. Thirteen years later, he moved to Callander where he spent the rest of his life.
William was recorded at the 1976 Royal National Mòd in Aberdeen, where he won the Gold Medal.
