Summary
Harvest customs in Jura.
In Jura, the last sheaf of the harvest was tied with ribbons and called the maighdeann. It was kept and given to the horses when ploughing began in the spring. A sheaf called the cailleach was given to last person to finish the harvest, which was seen as an embarrassment. There would be festivities at the end of harvest.
