Biography
Professor Tadaaki Miyake (三宅忠明) is a Japanese folklorist from Okayama Prefecture, specialising in traditional tales and comparative folklore. From 1972-73, he undertook a six-month British Council research scholarship based at the School of Scottish Studies; the majority of his fieldwork was conducted in Shetland, and would go on to contribute to Alan Bruford's own studies of Shetland folktales. On his return to Japan, Professor Miyake taught at a number of colleges and universities until 2007.
