Biography

Born and brought up in Skye. He established the Skye Museum of Island Life in 1965. See http://www.skyemuseum.co.uk (accessed 9 December 2009). For a number of years he was a member of the Crofters' Commission and got to know many of the people of Skye. In 1970 he bought Duntulm Hotel which he went on to run for 27 years. He was awarded an MBE in 2000 and received the 'Sàr Ghàidheal' award from Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in 2011.
