Summary
A sailor is sad to be leaving the Clyde early on a Monday morning. He describes the weather conditions they have to endure during the voyage. He sings of Mairi, a girl whom he has left behind; he loves her and thinks of her all the time. He says, however, that if she has turned her back on him, he feels there are other pretty flowers which can be picked. He prays that the Lord will bring them to a safe haven.
