Summary
This waulking song has two clear sections, separated by a double chorus. In the first, a woman watches a hind and her mate playing together early in the morning. The woman is unhappy, and there is a suggestion in the text that she has been raped in a glen while working as a dairymaid for the Lady of Sleat.
In the second section, the composer dreams of taking the youngest son of the MacLachlans from his castle.
