Summary
In this song, the bard was a shepherd down in the southern part of the Highlands and he mourns that he is not close to his beloved, whom he left in Rannoch. He does not like the landscape or the shepherding in this part of the country as much as in the mountains of the north. He praises his beloved and says that none other in the land compares to her, though they would all gather at Market Day in Kingussie.
A discussion on the composer follows.
