Girls washed their faces in May dew, but the only other May celebration was the Queen's birthday.
When Bill Walker was a boy, girls used to wash their faces in the dew on 1st May. There were no other May Day celebrations. On 24th May, Queen Victoria's birthday, the shooting tenant at Glen Lochy used to fire a 21-gun salute from a small cannon.
