Summary
Boys wore kilts or knickerbockers, and went barefoot in summer in late 19th century Killin.
When Bill Walker was a boy, kilts were worn by many boys; others wore knickerbockers which came to below the knee. They looked forward to May, when they would get their boots off and not put them on again, apart from going to church or Sunday school, until September.
