Summary
Sub-tenants cultivating rough ground.
Tacksmen gave bits of rough ground to sub-tenants for potatoes. He would reap the benefit years later after they had levelled the ground and fertilised it with seaweed. He could then plant barley and oats. The cas-chrom was commonly used to turn the soil. A cart load of seaweed fertiliser would give a cartload of potatoes as a crop.
