Summary
Stewart Travellers are descended from Jacobite nobility who married Gypsies.
The Stewarts have rebel blood. They came from the Highlands and fought at Culloden with Bonnie Prince Charlie. When the Jacobite nobles had to take refuge in caves, Gypsy women stole food for them, and some of the Jacobites married Gypsy women. Ned and Lucy Stewart emphasise that it is true that their branch of the Stewarts is of royal descent.
