Summary
A laird's children were cursed by the mother of an executed boy, and died unnatural deaths.
A laird had two sons and two daughters. The laird's younger daughter fell in love with a drummer boy and was meeting him secretly. The elder daughter was jealous and betrayed her sister to their father. He had the drummer boy beheaded in spite of his widowed mother's pleading. She predicted that all the laird's children would die unnatural deaths, and that before each death a banshee would be heard. The laird had the woman burned as a witch. The castle was haunted by the sound of drumbeats. One of the laird's children died falling from a horse, two were drowned, and the younger daughter died of love for the drummer boy. A banshee howled the night before each death.
