Summary

A Traveller saw the ghost of a murdered girl.

Lucy Stewart's uncle was addicted to drink. One night he had got drunk in Pitsligo and was coming home through a wood in the dark. He looked behind him and saw a little girl in old-fashioned clothes, with a schoolbag on her back. She seemed to be afraid of him. She followed him to a bridge, where she disappeared in a light. He realised this was a supernatural happening. He lay down for the night in a blacksmith's shop. In the morning the blacksmith told him he must have seen the ghost of a girl who was raped and murdered at that spot many years ago. Her ghost was often seen there at night.
