Summary
In this version of 'Green Grows the Laurel', a young woman laments her former sweetheart's treatment of her. When he sends her a letter, she writes back telling him not to write again, and she hardens her heart against the sad looks that he gives her. She contemplates love between men and women, and concludes from her experience that men are deceivers.
