Summary
Naval reserve service in World War I.
William Hunter tells of life in the Royal Naval Reserve during the First World War. He was given many skilled tasks such as splicing tough wireless cable. His vessel engaged a German submarine, firing two shots before ramming the vessel and finally finishing her off with depth charges. He was also put in charge of a launch at Gibralter despite never having operated such a vessel before.
