Summary
Fishing in Jura.
Winkles were eaten. Limpets were used as bait; they were cooked with potatoes and thrown in the sea. Fish would gather there in a couple of days. Limpets were also put on hooks. Fish caught locally included saithe, codling and perch. Rods were made from willow, which grows locally. Rock fishing was mostly done by women. Men would go out fishing with boats. Fish was salted and hung up inside. Men in boats fished with rods; the contributor has never heard of net fishing in Jura.
