Summary
Savary in Morvern connection to the explorer David Livingstone; extracts from his journal of a visit to Argyll published by Alasdair Cameron.
The family of Donald Livingstone, the man who saved the Stewart banner at the battle of Culloden, became the tenants of the mill at Savary in Morvern. They also had the inn. Alasdair Cameron thinks David Livingstone the explorer was related to this family, although William Mathieson disagreed with him on this. He has once or twice met a grandson of the explorer, Dr Hubert S. Wilson, who had the journal of David Livingstone's visit to Argyll, extracts of which Alastair Cameron published in the Oban Times about six years previously [i.e. c. 1962].
