Summary
Halloween customs.
People used to wash their shirts in a boundary stream, between two townships or two crofts, at Halloween. Cabbage plants were lifted at Halloween. They used to throw a ball of wool across a rafter in the barn and at the same time say a rhyme. This was a fun way of finding out who people were going to marry.
