Summary
A carrier died after giving the Devil a lift on his lorry.
Jean Stewart heard the following story from her parents when she was young.
In the days before motor transport, a carrier from near Kintore was taking goods on a four-wheeled lorry from the station to the shops. It was late at night. The carrier looked round and saw a man sitting on the edge of the lorry. The man didn't speak when addressed. The carrier eventually noticed that the man had cloven feet. He disappeared in a blue light at the bridge near Kintore. The carrier was very shaken, and when he got home told his wife what had happened. She sent him to bed. When she went to him with a cup of tea he was dead.
