Summary
A bet won on the basis of finding life in something inanimate.
Two lairds were both heavy gamblers. One gambled away his whole estate to the other and went up Mormond Hill to think what to do. He noticed that a bird had nested in the eye of the white horse cut into the hill. He went to the other laird and said he would bet his estate back that the white horse was alive. The other laird agreed to the bet. The bankrupt laird showed the other one the bird with its young, and won back his estate.
